The City of Coronado's news release from last week stated:
"The Coronado City Council agreed to fund the free Summer Shuttle bus service from July 5 through September 30. The cost is $54,000. The local MTS 904 bus will be converted into the free summer shuttle bus, which will serve the area between the Civic Center and the Coronado Island Marriott Resort & Spa, including the Coronado Ferry Landing. MTS will continue its financial support for the existing 904 route.
Each bus will be "wrapped" with special graphics that promote Coronado and the most popular shuttle destinations such as the Hotel del Coronado, Historic Downtown, Ferry Landing and the Marriott. Special bus stop signs will be installed and promotional material will be made available to local hotels and businesses to promote the free shuttle.
Two Summer Shuttle buses are being outfitted with the wrap design and will run every 30 minutes from 9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. seven days a week, with an extra hour on Friday and Saturday nights. The Summer Shuttle doubles the frequency of the current 904 bus service route. The new service provides four more hours of daily service to the 904 route by beginning one hour earlier and remaining in operation three hours later.
The free service begins Friday, July 5th.
This shuttle was in service less than a week!
