San Diego Floral
Association’s
Annual Historic Garden Tour
Eastern Prospects:
Gardens of Burlingame
& North Park
Neighborhoods east of Balboa Park provide a different
perspective on our city and on the park itself. The San Diego Floral
Association, San Diego's oldest Garden Association, presents its annual
“garden tour with a difference”. You will have the opportunity to
explore eight gardens in these charming
and historic neighborhoods. Vendors in a garden marketplace on the day
of the
tour will offer arts and crafts. Tickets are $20 ($25 day of the tour)
and will
soon be available at local San Diego nurseries and online through the
Floral Association
website www.sdfloral.org.
San Diego Floral is pleased to again join with award-winning
plant breeder Jim Zemcik as he brings a new geranium hybrid to market. ‘Linda
Anne’ will be introduced in an exclusive first sale during the “Eastern
Prospects” Garden Tour.
Developed after San Diego announced plans for the 1915
Panama California Exposition, Burlingame and North Park have been revitalized
in recent decades. Residents take pride in their gardens and in the eclectic
neighborhood architecture. Streets are lined with expertly renovated homes in
craftsman, Tudor revival, Spanish revival, Prairie, and mission styles. The
Burlingame Historic District is distinguished by its rose-colored sidewalks and
curvilinear streets.
Point of origination will be included with ticket purchase.
