Two
representatives from French TV concluded their week-long visit to
Coronado Tuesday by chartering a helicopter for a rare, bird's eye view
of the Emerald Isle.
Cecile Delarue (reporter, director and
editor) and Helene Gregoire (professional photographer) covered a lot of
ground during their visit, taking a close look at Coronado history and
what makes Coronado so special today. While here they interviewed
spokespersons from the Coronado Historical Association, the Hotel del
Coronado, and various members of the community.
Visibility was a bit hazy, but, as you'll see from the attached video (edited by Joe Ditler), the helicopter ride provided a good look at the island that inspired L. Frank Baum, and from an angle not many get to experience.

The
finished documentary will air in France in mid-June with an
international distribution. It will air on France 3's "Thalassa". This
is one of the oldest TV shows on French television. The prime time show
airs documentaries about "life around the sea" every Friday
night. France 3 has been a staple of French entertainment for more than
30 years.
One of the highlights of this project was an interview
with former Coronado school teacher, Kathy Clark, who shared Marilyn
Monroe stories from the 1958 shoot of "Some Like It Hot" in Coronado.
While
here, the film crew also explored some of Coronado's finer eateries,
such as the Boathouse 1887, the Brigantine, and the Coronado
Brewing Company.
