Here is the Crime Sheet for crime events occurring in Coronado. If you look carefully, you will notice some common factors.
The three occurrences of Petty Theft took place between 2 and 2:30 pm. Where are YOU at this time of the day? Are you running to the grocery store? Picking your children up from school? Getting ready to leave work? Make sure that your doors and windows are all locked when you leave. A security sign in your front yard goes a long way to deterring criminals. It’s easier to break into the house that doesn’t advertise additional security.
Observe the Vehicle Break-in/Theft crimes, both happened at 12pm (noon). It makes more sense that they would occur at midnight. Unfortunately, with more and more cars being parked on the street there is more opportunity for vehicle break-ins. I can only recommend that you leave nothing in your car that will arouse the curiosity of those opportunists who are looking for things to steal. An even better idea would be to clear your garage of all that useless “stuff” so you can park your car inside where it will be safer.
I foresee this as a huge problem in the future because there is such easy access to cars parked on the street. Coronado is an affluent city and there is no real police presence.
