Border Patrol Presence In Coronado Reduces Shore Landings

 

 

Coronado Councilwoman Barbara Denny with San Diego Sector US Border Patrol Chief Paul Beeson.  Along with the assistance of our outstanding Coronado Police Department, the US Border Patrol executed a successful intercept on Coronado last Friday.  As a result of this agency  cooperation, panga boat landings have been greatly reduced in Coronado.  Councilwoman Denny  takes the time to maintain a positive relationship with the US Border Patrol for the good of Coronado. U.S. Border Patrol Agents Arrest Suspected Carjacker At Interstate 15 Checkpoint

 

OCTOBER 10TH—TEMECULA, Calif. — U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Interstate 15 checkpoint near Temecula arrested a 36-year-old male U.S. citizen hours after he allegedly stole a vehicle from its owner at knifepoint in San Diego County. 

 

Sunday night at approximately 9:40 p.m., agents encountered the suspect driving a 2009 Toyota Corolla as he arrived at the checkpoint.  During inspection, agents became suspicious of the man’s nervous demeanor and referred him for a secondary inspection. 

 

While agents questioned the man, they noticed the handle of a knife protruding from between the driver’s seat and the center console.  Agents asked the man to step out of the car while they conducted records checks on the vehicle.  The records checks revealed that the Corolla had been reported stolen earlier that evening in Chula Vista. 

 

The suspect, vehicle, and all of its contents were taken into custody and subsequently turned over to the Chula Vista Police Department.

Agents Seize Nearly $860,000 Of Cocaine And Marijuana

 

U.S. Border Patrol San Diego Sector Weekly Highlights (October 1-October 7)

 

 

SAN DIEGO — U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to San Diego area checkpoints have seized a total of $859,200 of cocaine and marijuana since Saturday.

A Border Patrol K-9 team alerted to a hidden compartment beneath the center console.

 

Agents assigned to the I-15 checkpoint discovered 12 bundles of cocaine worth an estimated $389,100.

 

Agents assigned to the Interstate 15 checkpoint near Temecula arrested a 34-year-old female Mexican national for attempting to smuggle 12 bundles of cocaine yesterday.  A Border Patrol K-9 team alerted to a silver 2008 Ford Fusion and a search revealed a hidden compartment beneath the center console.  Inside, agents discovered 38.91 pounds of cocaine with an estimated street value of $389,100.  The suspected smuggler and narcotics were taken into custody and subsequently turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

 

A 2007 Volkswagen Jetta was seized after agents discovered 14 bundles of cocaine in a hidden compartment beneath the floorboard.

 

The cocaine had a total weight of more than 42 pounds and is worth an estimated $421,100.

 

At 8:45 a.m. on Wednesday, agents assigned to the I-15 checkpoint arrested a 28-year-old male Mexican national for attempting to smuggle $421,100 of cocaine.  Agents encountered the driver of a silver 2007 Volkswagen Jetta as he arrived at the checkpoint.  During inspection, agents became suspicious of the man’s nervous demeanor and referred him for a secondary inspection.  A Border Patrol K-9 team performed a cursory inspection of the vehicle resulting in a positive alert to the undercarriage.  Agents searched the vehicle and discovered a hidden compartment beneath the floorboard which held 14 bundles of cocaine with a total weight of 42.11 pounds.  The suspected smuggler and cocaine were taken into custody and turned over to the DEA.

 

 
Agents assigned to the I-8 checkpoint seized more than $49,000 of marijuana on Monday.

 

More than 80 pounds of marijuana was hidden in the tires of both a pickup truck and the van it was towing.

 

At 12:40 p.m. on Saturday, agents assigned to the Interstate 8 checkpoint near Pine Valley arrested a 42-year-old male Mexican national for attempting to smuggle 81.68 pounds of marijuana.  A Border Patrol K-9 team produced a positive alert to the tires of both a silver 2006 Ford F-150 truck and the gold 1998 Ford Windstar which it was towing.  Agents searched both vehicles and discovered marijuana hidden inside of the tires with an estimated street value of $49,000.  The suspected smuggler and drugs were turned over to the San Diego Sheriff’s Department.  All vehicles involved in the three smuggling incidents were seized by the U.S. Border Patrol.

U.S. Border Patrol Agents Seize Nearly $4 Million of Cocaine and Marijuana in San Diego County

Agents make $3.3 Million cocaine bust at Interstate 8 checkpoint

 

PINE VALLEY, Calif. — U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Interstate 8 checkpoint near Pine Valley arrested a lawfully admitted permanent resident for smuggling more than 330 pounds of cocaine in a tractor trailer yesterday.

 

At approximately 1:30 p.m., agents encountered a 46-year-old male Mexican national as he arrived at the checkpoint driving a red 1998 Freightliner tractor trailer.  During inspection, agents became suspicious of the truck driver’s nervous demeanor and referred him for a secondary inspection.

 

A Border Patrol K-9 team performed a cursory inspection of the tractor trailer resulting in a positive alert.  Further inspection revealed two non-factory compartments inside the fuel tanks.  Agents discovered 130 bundles of cocaine with a total weight of more than 334 pounds and an estimated street value of $3,346,600 inside the compartments.

 

Tuesday, agents assigned to the Interstate 15 checkpoint near Temecula arrested a 21-year-old male United States citizen for smuggling 78 bundles of marijuana in the rear seat and trunk of a white 2004 Dodge Stratus.  The total weight of the drugs was more than 416 pounds with an estimated street value of nearly $250,000.

 

In addition, Border Patrol agents stopped the 20-year-old male United States citizen driver of a silver 2004 Chrysler Pacifica near the I-15 checkpoint on Friday.  A Border Patrol K-9 team positively alerted to the rear seat of the vehicle, resulting in the discovery of an electronically locked compartment below the vehicle’s third row seat.  Agents opened the non-factory compartment and discovered 10 bundles of cocaine with a total weight of more than 25 pounds and worth an estimated $251,300.

 

The suspected smugglers and drugs from the three incidents were taken into custody and subsequently turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.  The tractor trailer, Dodge Stratus, and Chrysler Pacifica were seized by the U.S. Border Patrol.

 

To prevent illicit smuggling of humans, drugs, and other contraband, the U.S. Border Patrol maintains a high level of vigilance on major corridors of egress away from our nation’s borders.  Since October 1, 2010, San Diego Sector Border Patrol agents have seized more than 2,100 pounds of cocaine, 473 pounds of methamphetamine, and 68,550 pounds of marijuana.

U.S. Border Patrol Agents Seize $567K Of Narcotics At Two San Diego County Checkpoints

 

SAN DIEGO — August 25, 2011—U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to San Diego Border Patrol checkpoints foiled two drug smuggling attempts yesterday resulting in the seizure of $419,000 worth of heroin and $148,000 of methamphetamine.

 

At approximately 1 p.m., agents encountered two Mexican nationals, a 40-year-old male and 37-year-old female, as they arrived at the Interstate 8 checkpoint near Pine Valley, in a gray 2006 Ford F-350 pickup.  During inspection, agents became suspicious of the occupants’ nervous demeanor and referred them for a secondary inspection.

 

A Border Patrol K-9 team performed a cursory inspection of the vehicle resulting in a positive alert to the undercarriage.  Agents searched the truck and discovered 15 bundles of heroin hidden in the front differential and transfer case.  The heroin had a total weight of 34.94 pounds and an estimated street value of $419,000.      

 

Border Patrol agents stopped another drug smuggling attempt earlier in the day at about noon at the State Route 94 checkpoint near Jamul.  Agents seized 7.4 pounds of methamphetamine after a Border Patrol K-9 team alerted to the rear of a white 1996 Ford Mustang driven by a 19-year-old male United States citizen.   Agents searched the vehicle and found 14 bundles of methamphetamine hidden in the rear spoiler.  The total estimated street value of the narcotics is $148,000.    

 

The three suspected smugglers and drugs were taken into custody and subsequently turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for further investigation.  The Ford F-350 and Mustang were seized by the U.S. Border Patrol.

U.S. Border Patrol Agents Make Huge Meth Bust At Interstate 5 Checkpoint

 

San Clemente, Calif. —August 22, 2011— U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Interstate 5 and Interstate 8 checkpoints thwarted two narcotics smuggling attempts resulting in the combined seizure of more than $1.1 million of methamphetamine in one day.

 

At approximately 4:05 p.m. last Thursday, agents encountered two 19-year-old male United States citizens as they arrived at the checkpoint driving a silver 2003 Toyota Corolla.  During inspection, agents became suspicious of the pair’s inconsistent answers to their questions and referred them for a secondary inspection. 

 

A Border Patrol K-9 team performed a cursory inspection of the vehicle resulting in a positive alert to the driver’s side doors.  Agents searched the vehicle and discovered a hidden compartment inside a speaker box located in the trunk.

 

Inside the compartment, agents found 24 bundles of methamphetamine with a total weight of 30.98 pounds and an estimated street value of $619,600.  The suspected smugglers and drugs were taken into custody and subsequently turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.  The vehicle was seized by the U.S. Border Patrol.

 

The I-5 checkpoint seizure was the Border Patrol’s second of the day following a $470,000 meth seizure at the I-8 checkpoint in east San Diego County.  Agents discovered 30 bundles totaling 23.5 pounds of the illicit narcotic in a non-factory compartment inside a vehicle’s rear bumper.  In total, the two meth seizures are worth nearly $1.1 million on the street.

PINE VALLEY, Calif. —August 19, 2011— U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Interstate 8 checkpoint near Pine Valley stopped a drug smuggling attempt yesterday resulting in the seizure of $470,000 worth of methamphetamine.

 

At approximately 11:30 a.m., agents encountered a 38-year-old United States citizen female as she arrived at the checkpoint driving a dark blue 2000 Volkswagen Jetta.  During inspection, agents became suspicious of the woman’s nervous demeanor and referred her for a secondary inspection.

 

A Border Patrol K-9 team performed a cursory inspection of the vehicle resulting in a positive alert to the rear bumper of the vehicle.  Agents searched the vehicle and discovered a non-factory compartment inside the vehicle’s rear bumper.

 

Inside the compartment, agents discovered 30 bundles of methamphetamine with a total weight of 23.5 pounds and an estimated street value of $470,000.  The suspected smuggler and drugs were taken into custody and subsequently turned over to a multi-agency drug task force.  The vehicle was seized by the U.S. Border Patrol.

Maritime Law Enforcement Partners Foil Drug Smuggling Attempt

Nearly 750 pounds of marijuana seized south of San Onofre State Beach

 

 

SAN DIEGO (August 12, 2011) – U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested three male Mexican nationals yesterday for attempting to smuggle more than 700 pounds of marijuana into the United States aboard an open-hulled, panga-style boat.

 

 

At approximately 8 a.m., the U.S. Border Patrol and other Maritime Unified Command partners were notified of a suspicious boat traveling north along the San Diego County coastline near Camp Pendleton.  Border Patrol agents on land and Oceanside Harbor Police officers in the water responded to the scene and observed the boat, which quickly came ashore on Red Beach.  In addition, Customs and Border Protection Office of Air and Marine directed an AS-350 aircraft to the scene and provided aerial surveillance during the incident.

 

 

Border Patrol agents conducted a search of the area and apprehended three men who had run from the beached boat.  Agents subsequently questioned them and determined they were illegally present in the country.  A search of the panga revealed 11 fuel containers, three life vests, and 32 bundles of marijuana with a total weight of 741 pounds and an estimated street value of $444,600.

 

 

The three Mexican nationals, drugs, and boat were turned over to the Homeland Security Investigations Marine Task Force for further investigation.

U.S. Border Patrol Agents Seize Nearly $850K Of Illegal Narcotics In Busy Week Around Southern California

Methamphetamine, Cocaine, Marijuana taken off streets

 

SAN DIEGO — U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to three San Diego Border Patrol checkpoints foiled four drug smuggling attempts over the last five days resulting in the seizure of $845,590 worth of methamphetamine, cocaine, and marijuana.

 

On Sunday, July 31 at 10:55 a.m., agents assigned to the I-8 checkpoint in Pine Valley, Calif., encountered a 32-year-old female United States citizen driving a white 2001 Ford Explorer.  She appeared extremely nervous and was referred for a secondary inspection.  A Border Patrol K-9 team performed a cursory inspection resulting in a positive alert to the rear of the vehicle.  Agents searched the vehicle and discovered 27 bundles of methamphetamine and 4 bundles of marijuana.  The 31 bundles held 5.1 pounds of meth and 71.65 pounds of marijuana with a total estimated street value of $144,990.

 

A second drug smuggling attempt was prevented on Monday, August 1 at approximately 3:15 p.m. at the I-5 Border Patrol checkpoint in San Clemente, Calif.  Agents seized 21.83 pounds of cocaine after a Border Patrol K-9 team alerted to a Gray 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by a 21-year-old female United States citizen.  Agents searched the vehicle and found six bundles of cocaine hidden in the woman’s diaper bag in the back seat.  An additional three bundles of cocaine were discovered in the woman’s purse.  The total estimated street value of the seized narcotics was $218,300.  

 

The suspected smugglers and drugs involved in the I-5 and I-8 seizures were taken into custody and subsequently turned over to a multi-agency drug taskforce.  Both vehicles were seized by the U.S. Border Patrol.

 

The third seizure took place on Tuesday, August 2 at approximately 9 a.m., when agents assigned to the I-15 Border Patrol checkpoint in Temecula, Calif. encountered the driver of a white 1993 Mazda minivan.  The driver, a 27-year-old male Mexican national, appeared extremely nervous and was referred for a secondary inspection.  A Border Patrol K-9 team performed a cursory inspection of the minivan resulting in a positive alert to the undercarriage of the vehicle.  Agents searched the vehicle and discovered six bundles of cocaine inside the spare tire with a total weight of 16.93 pounds and an estimated street value of $169,300.

 

On Wednesday morning, August 3, agents stopped a 20-year-old female United States citizen and a 37-year-old male Mexican national travelling in a white 1994 Cadillac SLS on the I-15 North near Temecula, Calif.  A Border Patrol K-9 team was summoned and performed a cursory inspection resulting in a positive alert to the front of the vehicle.  Agents transported the vehicle and its occupants to the nearby Border Patrol checkpoint for further inspection.  At the checkpoint, agents searched the vehicle and discovered 15.65 pounds of methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $313,000. 

 

In both incidents, the suspected smugglers and drugs were taken into custody and subsequently turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.  The vehicles were seized by the U.S. Border Patrol.
