CERO (Coronado Emergency Radio Operators) met last night at the EOC (Emergency Operations Center) at the Police station for their monthly meeting. Did you know that Coronado has a ham radio group and one of the best repeater systems for receiving and sending emergency messages in the County? Here are a few photos taken last night and submitted by CERO member Barbara Denny.
President Fred Brown conducts the meeting and welcomes new prospective members.
Here are just a few of many CERO members.
Old meets new . . .
Fred has a zillion QRZ cards from around the world that are sent after a contact is made. Here are just a few that he brought last night.
CERO will be testing applicants in early February for Technician, General and Advanced licenses. Contact Fred Brown at w5bn@san.rr.com for more details.
CERO would like to invited all interested persons to attend CERO meetings on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 6pm in the EOC. Ham operators are the communicators in emergency situations when cell phones and land lines no longer operate. When all is silent, hams are still communicating vital information.
