I thought it was a Gila Monster when I first saw the photo, something that you definitely want to stay out of the way of. Turns out to be a Mexican Beaded Lizard which is a close relative of a GM, probably a country cousin.
I, personally, would be happy to live my life never meeting either one of these venomous reptiles.This one was found in a Rancho Bernardo yard and is headed to the San Diego Zoo.
