If you read Coronado Common Sense five times a week, or even just when the mood hits you, then you will know that local resident Joe Ditler is a regular contributor. And not only is Joe a talented writer, he’s quite familiar with the history and the people who made that history here in Coronado.
So I was quite pleased to come across a story written about Joe for a change. I found it in the San Diego Reader and Friend of Joe (FOJ) Ed Bedford wrote it. There are many FOJs out there and that’s probably why Joe has the low-down on Coronado and her inhabitants. This particular story connects Joe, the newly renovated Coronado Village Theatre (that Joe’s company Part-Time PR does the press for) and popcorn entrepreneur Orville Redenbacher. Come again?
Read Ed Bedford’s “Another Ghost: Mr. Popcorn” and you’ll understand. In the meantime, you can watch David Letterman interviewing Mr. Redenbacher on his 85th birthday back in 1991 (first six minutes of video).
